Sandra strives to communicate her emotional reaction to a particular scene
through the use of strong values and elements that lead the viewer into
and through her paintings. Places she has lived in and traveled to, have
provided the subject matter and experiences which influence her work. These
include the plains of North Dakota and Nebraska as well as the mountains
of Colorado and the Black Hills. She has traveled many times over seas
and from coast to coast in the US. She is well versed in the use
of various mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, pastels, pen & ink
and pencil.
She has won numerous awards, most recently the NELI (Nebraska Life Magazine)
2001 award, ANAC 2001 Honorable Mention, NPVAG Patrons Award in 1997
and ANAC Award of Excellence in 1995.
Sandra has taken classes from well known art instructors and teaches private
art lessons for children. She holds a BA degree in Art Education and sells
work locally as well as nationwide. Sandra has been instrumental in the
development and operation of the Prairie Winds Art Center. |
